Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hera Pheri, and more are some movies that come to anyone’s mind when they hear Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan.

Bhoot Bangla is the latest addition to that list. Unfortunately, this movie should not be on this list because it never tries to touch that kind of entertainment or humour. Are you shocked after reading it? It is only a teaser. Keep reading our Bhoot Bangla movie review to learn why you should think once before going to the theatres.

Check the trailer below before moving to the complete Bhoot Bangla 2026 review.

Storyline Starts with Promise but Slows Down Quickly

The story is set around the fictional village of Mangalpur, where an old curse hangs over the land. Local folklore believes that a mysterious creature named Vadhusur kidnaps a newlywed bride before the wedding night. This spooky environment creates initial curiosity for viewers.

After that, the plot took a drastic turn abroad because there were a family who were planning to return to India. Shockingly, they inherit an old mansion connected to the curse. Right after that,  secrets started to unfold.

Although the concept had potential, the screenplay stretches simple ideas too long. The film keeps explaining every mystery in detail instead of creating suspense naturally. It weakens the impact of many twists.

Bhoot Bangla Akshay Kumar in comic mode is among the top reasons to watch the film. He looks comfortable in the role. And he gives timing, screen presence, and charm to the dull scenes.

He manages the punches too well to keep the pace alive whenever the script goes boring. Meanwhile, his efforts could not save a film with low freshness. If you are a fan of Akshay Kumar, you might still get some value in this part.

Supporting Cast Gets Limited Scope

Many talented actors were there in a supporting role. But their efforts seem underused in the film.

Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav give their experienced comic ability. Yet, their characters mostly rely on repetitive jokes. Similarly, Tabu also gets limited chances despite her power to give depth and screen command. Wamiqa Gabbi also enters with high hopes, but her character is also left underdeveloped.

Apart from supporting characters, some scenes work to entertain the audience. The writing rarely allows anyone to distinguish itself.

Horror and Comedy Blend Does Not Fully Work

A horror-comedy needs balance. It should make viewers laugh and give some tension. This is a part where Bhoot Bangla 2026 reviews are struggling.

Instead of the environment, the horror section depends heavily on loud background music. Meanwhile, the comedy section also feels forced rather than entertaining. They indeed work in some parts. But it lacks consistency throughout the runtime.

The film was overstuffed and noisy without a mix of humour and scares.

Second Half Loses Direction

The biggest negative point comes after the interval. The second half should tie the overall narrative. Instead, it becomes flowers with many flashbacks, repetitive explanations, and unnecessary stretching.

Some scenes that should surprise the viewers turn out to be predictable because an intense explanation was given earlier. Emotional scenes also fail to impress because some characters' arcs seem short.

Editing could have been stronger in the second half of the film.

Music and Nostalgia Attempts Miss the Mark

The song leaves a limited impact. A few of them were enjoyable but could not make a lasting impact. The film also has some moments that aim to remind viewers of earlier classics. These recalls were also less effective.

Bhoot Bangla movie review: Final Verdict

Bhoot Bangla is a missed opportunity with high potential. The cast is capable, the concept is interesting, and more importantly, the reunion was enough to create curiosity. Still, the writing makes the movie a disaster.

If you are a fan of Akshay Kumar or Priyadarshan, you might enjoy some scenes. But it would be best to avoid entering with the expectation of getting enjoyment like Bhool Bhulaiyaa or Hera Pheri.
