Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has shared the strong reaction to the big success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge.  Starring Ranveer Singh, the film turned out to be one of the biggest hits in recent times under the direction of Aditya Dhar. 

Kohli highlighted that industry support is not always important for success while speaking about the film’s journey. He revealed that many filmmakers had predicted that it would slow down after its opening weekend. But the opposite happened as the movie earned momentum during the weekdays. 

Industry Doubts Around Dhurandhar

Many big names in the industry were unsure about the film’s performance, according to Kunal Kohli. He shared that many believed the film would struggle after Monday. But it continues to grow instead. 

Speaking to the Screen, he said:

“Even when the industry doesn’t support a film. It still works. The biggest directors I spoke to, he said, it will stop working on Monday. Instead, Dhurandhar started working on Monday.  

He highlighted that the movie surprised everyone by holding strong and improving its performance during weekdays. He pointed out the movie as a clear example of how industry predictions do not always match reality. 

He also mentioned another example of Border 2, as it was also facing similar doubts before crossing Rs. 300 crore. Kunal Kohli highlighted that audience response matters more than internal industry opinions. 

Kohli said that such examples show that success depends on how the audience connects with the content rather than early predictions within the industry. 

He also highlighted the competitive nature of the industry. He reveals that real support is usually limited. He recalls past experiences where successful films did not receive encouraging reactions during early reviews.

Box Office Performance Shocks Everyone

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has given outstanding box office numbers. The film has crossed ₹1700 crores in worldwide collection, as it earned ₹6.18 crores on its Day 26. And it has proved its strength with consistent collection. 

Kunal Kohli also praised the film for showcasing the real potential of Indian cinema. He highlighted that strong and rooted stories connect with audiences across the country. 

On top of that, the combined collection of both films is ₹3000 crores, which makes it one of the biggest Indian films in history. The sequel only earned around ₹1300 crores in India and ₹415.25 crores worldwide. These figures highlight the film's broad reach and acceptance across domestic and international markets. 

Kunal Kohli addressed the topic of real collection. He said that such numbers cannot be achieved through fake or artificial means. The film’s daily earnings show real audience turnout and strong demand, Kunal Kohli said.
