Chand Mera Dil Movie Review: Overview

Chand Mera Dil Movie deserves appreciation for showcasing romance beyond the excitement of first love.  It showcases the story about love, compatibility, sacrifice, and emotional baggage. The film begins like a perfect college life drama. But it suddenly took a dramatic turn towards serious relationship drama that deals with adulthood, marriage, parenthood, and personal insecurities.

Director Vivek Soni tries to showcase the struggle of two people who rarely love each other, and start struggling when expectations, ego, and unresolved trauma enter their relationship. The film succeeds in many emotional scenes, especially during the second half. The screenplay still becomes inconsistent at times.

The Chand Mera Dil movie follows Aarav Rawat (Lakshay) and Chandni Sharma (Ananya Panday). They met in an engineering college and instantly fell in love with each other. Although Aarav looks quiet, intelligent, and emotionally intense, Chandni is ambitious, confident, and emotionally expressive.

Their chemistry develops naturally during the first half of the film. The matching outfits, college interactions, and awkward romantic gestures add charm to their relationship. The first half successfully captures the innocence and excitement of the young couple.

Things, however, took a dramatic turn when they faced unwanted challenges suddenly. Family pressure, emotional immaturity, career struggles, financial stress, and personal trauma slowly start burning their love. These factors soon convert the storyline to emotional survival.

Chand Mera Dil Movie Review: Story Review

As mentioned above, Director Vivek Soni deserves praise for showing a unique theme from other romantic films in recent times.

Elements like compatibility, parenting pressure, generational trauma, ego clashes, and emotional exhaustion in relationships are effectively highlighted in Chand Mera Dil. Some scenes often feel relatable because they show the struggle when the relationship collapses under expectations instead of a lack of love.

Curiosity is also successfully created in the interval scene. And the second half has a stronger emotional weight. The scenes between both families also add tension to the overall story.

The screen still has some flaws that must be pointed out in this Chand Mera Dil review.  Some emotional tensions feel repetitive, and a few of them lack naturalness. Some situations could have been written with more depth and clarity.  This is because the climax becomes more predictable, rather than generating excitement about what will happen at the end.

The emotional base yet stays engaging enough to hold the audience.

Chand Mera Dil Movie Review: Performance

Lakshya has delivered one of the best performances of his career in this film as Aarav. He made the character vulnerable, intense, and believable.  He performs extremely well during emotional scenes and communicates pain in silence, even in moments of silence.

Ananya Panday also shows improvement in her skills as an actor with a sincere performance. Similar to Lakshya, she also handles emotional scenes perfectly and performs confidently in intense relationship conflicts.

Their chemistry works in many romantic scenes, especially during the college portion. But a few emotional moments become weak because of the script.

Paresh Pahuja provides good support as Kevin. And Manish Chaudhari and Irawati Harshe deliver respectable performances as Aarav’s parents. Charu Shankar also leaves an impact despite less screen time. The screenplay made some characters underdeveloped.

Chand Mera Dil Movie Review: Technical Aspects

Its visual presentation is one of the strongest aspects of the Chand Mera Dil movie. Cinematographer Debojeet Ray gives Hyderabad a fresh cinematic identity by capturing it beautifully. The visuals remain polished throughout the movie.

Sachin-Jigar’s music mixes smoothly with the narrative. Its title track adds depth to the story and blends well with the overall narrative. Other songs like Khasiyat, Aitbaar, and Phir Ajnabi support the emotional tone of the film effectively. On top of that, the background score also complements the emotional scenes without becoming overbearing.

Although the production design looks visually appealing, some setups seem slightly artificial. Outfits also feel natural and suit the personalities of the characters. Similarly, editing is also inconsistent in some parts. The runtime could have been tighter to make the emotional drama more impactful.

What Stands Out

Its emotional honesty is the biggest strength of the Chand Mera Dil Movie. The film shows that the relationship can become exhausting when life changes unexpectedly, instead of showing love as a magical saga. The film also deserves praise for touching on the following themes:

  • Emotional trauma carried from childhood
  • Financial pressure in young relationships
  • Parenthood and responsibility
  • Ego clashes between couples
  • Fear of becoming like one’s parents
  • Emotional distance despite love

Lakshya’s emotional performance is another major highlight of the film. He leaves a strong emotional impact in numerous scenes. The film tries to move beyond a regular college romance also works well.

What Could Have Been Improved

Despite having a strong emotional environment, the Chand Mera Dil movie struggles with uneven writing.

The screenplay attempts to cover several emotional themes at once. Some important themes do not get the proper attention because of that.  The family angle, especially, feels underutilised.

The lead character’s decision feels frustrating because communication gaps are stretched mainly to create drama. Some scenes also look abruptly edited. On top of that, the film’s runtime could have been shorter, especially during the repetitive emotional arguments. A tighter screenplay would have made the narrative more engaging.

Although the climax is emotional, it feels somewhat predictable.

Final Verdict

The Chand Mera Dil Movie Review works well to offer positivity despite its imperfections. Vivek Soni tries to show a mature relationship drama to explore love besides romance. And the effort deserves praise for doing it.

The film works best when it highlights emotional vulnerability, relationship pressure, and the psychological impact of adulthood on young couples.  Lakshya delivers a memorable performance, and Ananya Pandya also gives a better performance than in her previous appearances.

Although the screenplay becomes messy sometimes with some pacing issues, Chand Mera Dil succeeds in creating emotional moments.
