Sunny (Played by Avinash Tiwary) is a former wrestler from Rishikesh. His life changes after the manipulated viral scandals end his dream of becoming a national champion. After many years, he runs a handicraft shop and lives under constant pressure. 

His father wants him to get married as soon as possible. But Sunny’s reputation and limited education made that difficult. Sunny wants a traditional wife similar to his memory. 

Ginny (Medha Shankr) enters the story from Delhi with a completely opposite lifestyle. She is educated, modern, socially active, and frustrated with her failed relationship. Her mother also wants her to get married. 

Both families met through matrimonial arrangements while hiding the truth. Although Sunny is presented as a successful businessman, Ginny is made to appear as the simple daughter-in-law that Sunny’s family wants. This is because both get married quickly. 

But the reality of both sides comes out instantly after the marriage. The conflicts started due to differences in mindset, intimacy, social habits, and expectations. After that, the film follows a troubled marriage heading towards its separation before it tries to move towards reconciliation.

Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 Review: Writing and Screenplay

Weak writing is the biggest issue of the Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 Review. The script has many ideas. But it only developed a few properly. 

It shows that sometimes lies and exaggeration become the basis of the movie. It also hints that families usually judge a woman based on her domestic skills, regardless of personality. These points could have added freshness to the story. 

Instead, the screenplay shifts the tone quickly. One scene forces you to laugh, and out of nowhere, the next scene gives you emotional pain. That inconsistency hurt the impact of both genres. 

Sunny’s transformation is also another big weak point. He starts as a conservative man uncomfortable with Ginny’s independence.  But his mindset changes suddenly later in the story. Instead of earned, it feels convinced. 

On top of that, the romance also doesn’t have an emotional foundation. We are told the couple falls for each other. But the film rarely shows how they come closer and what makes them love each other. The marital tension also has less weight because of that emotional weight.

Avinash Tiwary is among the film’s plus points. He plays Sunny brilliantly and keeps the character watchable when the writing goes wrong. He manages threats well and gives effort to scenes that otherwise feel flat.

Medha Shankr also gives confidence and screen presence to Ginny. She performs strongly in emotional scenes, as she shows frustration and disappointment brilliantly. Meanwhile, the exaggerated tone also affects her performance in some comedy scenes. 

Sudhir Pandey also impressed as the supporting cast. He gives the authority and reality to Sunny’s father. Her screen presence gives weight to the simple scenes. 

Despite her talent, Lillete Dubey gets the underdeveloped role. Similarly, the other supporting cast also did what they could. But most characters struggle to impress because they are underwritten.

Director Prasshant Jha also seems unsure to decide whether the film should be a romantic comedy or a serious relationship drama. This is because the story fails to settle into one clear identity. 

The pacing is also inconsistent because some scenes stretch longer than expected, and emotional tensions are rushed. Important turning points happen instantly without enough buildup. 

The music also fails to boost the story. Apart from some wedding tracks, the film lacks memorable songs,

Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 had all the important ingredients for an entertaining modern rom-com with social commentary. Instead, it becomes a noisy, predictable, and uneven sequel. This is because the movie fails to find the right path. 

Avinash Tiwary, Medha Shankr, and Sudhir Pandey give strong performances and try their best. But the weak writing and confused direction restrict the result. It tries to give a strong message. But it rarely commits those ideas. 

You can ignore it if you are expecting a strong romantic comedy. But it might entertain you when you want a light family comedy.
