Nivin Pauly’s Prathichaya is all set to hit the digital platforms after completing its theatrical run. Released on March 26, the movie will soon be available on streaming platforms. Keep reading to know Prathichaya OTT release date and platform.

The makers have confirmed that Prathichaya will start streaming on JioHotstar from April 24. The announcement was made officially to end rumours about the post-theatrical release plan.

Similar to other regional releases, the gap between the theatrical and digital release is around 1 month. Though it allows film to reach audiences who might not be able to reach theatres during its original run.  

At this point, there is no confirmed information about Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, or other dubbed versions. As of now, the movie is expected to be out only in Malayalam. Meanwhile, further details will be out near the Prathichaya OTT release date. 

The OTT release is big because many underperforming theatre film usually gets appreciation online. As there is a growing demand for Malayalam cinema, the movie might benefit from broader accessibility.

It is a political drama set in Kerala. And the movie explores power struggles, family legacy, and media pressure.  Veteran actor Balachandra Menon is seen as senior politician K N Varghese. However, Nivin Pauly appears as his younger son, John. 

John initially runs his startup business and plans to travel abroad with his wife. Meanwhile, a big political controversy forced him to enter public life and defend his family’s image. This movie will entertain those who love political drama after the Prathichaya OTT release date. 

Sharaf U Dheen, Maniyanpilla Raju, Saikumar, Harisree Ashokan, Ann Augustine, Vishnu Agasthya, Nishanth Sagar, and Neethu Krishna are also there to support the storyline with their incredible performances. 

Nishanth Sagar is seen as Tobin (Varghese’s elder son), who is already active in politics and a member of parliament. Meanwhile, Sharaf U Dheen (Ravi Madhavan) plays an important character as he handles the media’s side of the story.

Prathichaya OTT Release Date: Box Office Collection

The theatrical run of Prathichaya remained below expectations as it earned around Rs 65 lakh in India on its opening day. Additionally, it delivered a modest performance in its first week. 

Despite a relevant political theme and a strong cast, it gets mixed responses and fails to maintain momentum at the box office. Now, the Prathichaya OTT release might help it to gain the right momentum. 

The film earned reportedly Rs 1.99 crore net in India and crossed Rs 2 crore globally during its theatrical run. These numbers are lower than expectations for a Nivin Pauly release. 

Industry experts highlighted that the film faced low pre-release buzz. Mixed audience reactions after the release also affected the momentum. Although the political backdrop matches the current Kerala election season, the movie fails to capitalise on that timing into box office success.

Still, box office numbers do not always decide the complete life of the movie. Many titles have earned a better response after streaming premieres, especially when viewers watch them without theatrical expectation. Sanam Teri Kasam and Laila Majnu are examples of those films.
