The Astraverse may finally be set to expand soon with Brahmastra 2. The much-awaited sequel could move forward with active writing and pre-production work.
Director Ayan Mukerji is working on the ambitious project. Ranbir Kapoor may return as Shiva. The sequel is being planned as much large compared to the first film, as the story may introduce many new characters, mythologies, and a mysterious world of astras.
Pinkvilla’s report suggests that Brahmastra 2 is currently being developed as Ayan Mukerji and team are closely working on the script. It also hints that the makers are making interesting plans for the next production stage.
Ranbir Kapoor To Start Brahmastra 2 After Ramayana
Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on one of the biggest projects of his career, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. He may reportedly complete shooting for Ramayana Part 2 by January 2027.
He may go through a short preparation period before beginning work on Brahmastra 2 after finishing the epic project. Its shooting may start in April 2027. It would be Ranbir’s next big project after Ramayana.
The upcoming sequel will also be a big challenge for Ranbir. The report also suggests that he could be seen in a double role in Brahmastra 2.

Ranbir Kapoor To Play Shiva And Dev
Ranbir Kapoor may play Shiva and Dev in the sequel simultaneously. Although Shiva was the central character in the first film, Deva was also teased as a powerful figure in the Astraverse’s larger mythology.
The dual role may give Brahmastra 2 a larger emotional and dramatic scope. The sequel may explore Dev’s past and his romance with Amruta. It may also reveal why he moves towards the dark and comes against his own son, Shiva.
Ranbir has previously spoken about the sequel writing process. He said that Ayan Mukerji was working on a much bigger idea for the second instalment. The filmmaker knows the audience response to the first movie and the discussion around its elements and characters.
The makers may use the sequel to take the story in a new direction while retaining Astraverse’s core elements.

Alia Bhatt may reprise Isha in the sequel. Her character became an important part of his journey as she shared a relationship with Shiva in the first instalment.
The sequel may also expand Isha’s role as the story moves forward from Shiva’s initial discovery of the Astras. Although more details about her character are still awaited, her return will bring one of the franchise’s main faces.
Deepika Padukone In Talks For Amruta
Deepika Padukone’s reported involvement has become a major point of discussion now. Ayan Mukerji has reportedly started talks with her for the role of Amruta.
The character could have a strong presence in the sequel. This is why the makers might be searching for an actress with immense popularity. Deepika’s casting, however, hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Brahmastra 2 To Be Bigger Than The First Film
The sequel may expand the mythology of the 2022 film Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. Astra’s concept was introduced in the first movie to establish Shiva’s journey into this supernatural world.
Ayan Mukerji might now explore the mythology on a big scale in Brahmastra 2. Although Jio Studios is backing the project, the makers are working to create a larger cinematic experience for the audience.
The project is still some time away from production for now. The sequel, however, seems to be moving ahead because scripting is underway and Ranbir Kapoor’s reported April 2027 shooting schedule.
The confirmed details are expected to be out when the team gets closer to filming.
