Peddi Movie Review: Buchi Babu Sana’s Peddi has finally hit the theatres with enormous expectations. The film brings Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Shiva Rajkumar together in a rural sports drama packed with action, emotions, and social commentary.
Set against the backdrop of a forgotten village fighting for its identity, the film offers a combination of cricket, wrestling, and athletics with a story about dignity and belonging. The story is focused on a talented young man from a neglected village, Peddi. He takes inspiration from the lifelong dream of Appalasuri, who wants a railway station for the village. He decides to continue the mission through his achievements in sports.
His journey takes him from being an excellent cricketer and wrestler to an athlete competing on a bigger stage. His journey to becoming a popular sportsman was never easy, as he faced discrimination, personal sacrifices, and powerful rivals while trying to uplift his people.
The story itself comes with a meaningful message about identity and social justice. But some narrative choices and dramatic turns feel exaggerated.

There is no doubt that Ram Charan is the biggest strength of the film. His physical transformation, screen presence, and emotional depth made Peddi one of his most demanding performances yet. He attracts the audience's attention throughout when he is dominating cricket fields, wrestling in the arena, or even taking a stand for his community.
Besides Ram Charan, Shiva Rajkumar also leaves a strong impression as Peddi’s mentor. This is because maturity and warmth are clearly seen in the narrative. Jagapathi Babu also gives emotional weight through his character, who has selfless dreams for his village.
Janhvi Kapoor, meanwhile, looks convincing as the village belle. But her character lacks meaningful development and slowly disappears from the main plot. The story doesn’t have much impact if her character doesn’t exist.
Divyenndu Sharma and Boman Irani also deliver decent performances in supporting roles despite having a limited impact.

Peddi Movie Review: Technical Aspects
Peddi has impressive production values from a technical point. Cinematographer R. Rathnavelu gives the movie a rich visual appeal as he captures the rustic environment and sports events brilliantly.
A.R. Rahman’s music also supports the emotional moments, and the background score is enough to add energy in several crucial moments. Some songs are enjoyable in the movie. But no song leaves a lasting impression.
The production design also recreates the 90s settings beautifully. Editing, however, could have been tighter, as the lengthy runtime and a slow middle section slow the overall pace.
What Works in Peddi
