Is Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai going off-air after 11 years? The popular sitcom may leave TV, but a new update reveals a surprising shift that could keep the story alive in a different format.
One of the most loved comedy shows of Indian television, Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, is undergoing a big change. After entertaining TV audiences for more than one decade, it might leave traditional TV and enter the OTT-only show like a web series. It has surprised many loyal fans who have followed this sitcom since its beginning.
The show has stayed a household name for almost 11 years because of its quirky humour and memorable characters. Aasif Sheikh, Rohitash Gaud, Shilpa Shinde, and Vidisha Srivastava have played a big role in making the show a fan favourite. Apart from them, actress Shubhangi Atre has also contributed to the success of this show.

Show Moving to OTT Platform
As mentioned earlier, Bhabhi Ghar Par Hain might soon stop telecasting on TV. However, its journey won’t end. Instead, the show might continue on Zee5 in a fresh format.
Actress Shilpa Shinde (Angoori Bhabhi) herself confirmed this change in a recent interview with the media. She shared that it will be released in a limited-season format on OTT. Also, she said younger audiences now wanted to consume content on their mobile phones.
It means that viewers can still enjoy Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain in a new style to fulfil the demand of the younger audience.
Shilpa Shinde Talks About Her Return
For those unaware, she came back to the show by replacing Shubhangi Atre in December 2025 after a decade. The show failed to make an impact as expected after her return.
Shilpa Shinde revealed that many fans were still not aware that she had made her comeback in Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain. This highlights that every update about the shows didn’t reach the right audience despite its popularity.

Makers Plan to Bring Back Original Concept
Since the return of Shilpa Shinde, it followed a horror-comedy format. As of now, it is in the same format.
Makers are now planning to revive the original storyline of Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain. The early concept focuses on two neighbouring couples who constantly interfere in each other’s lives.
The original charm was lost because the storyline was changed, Shilpa says. Now, the team aims to come back with the original and classic setup. The removal of new changes and move to the old theme might bring back the familiar flavour.
&TV May Undergo Major Changes
The step of Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain is also connected to bigger changes at &TV. Reports suggest that the channel has been facing challenges with TRP ratings for some time.
The channel earlier tried repositioning itself as a comedy-focused channel to revive its ratings. It introduced new shows like e Gharwali Pedwali and Hey Bhagwan. Still, these efforts did not deliver the expected result.
As of now, the channel is reportedly another major change. It could transform itself into a rerun-based channel similar to Star Bharat, Sony, and Zee Anmol. This might change how the audience engages with &TV in the upcoming weeks.
This change might come into effect from May 2026.
What Happens to Other Shows?
Although it's confirmed that Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain will become an OTT show, the future of newly launched shows like Hey Bhagwan and Gharwali Pedwali is unclear. Gharwali Pedwali could get shifted to Zee5 or go off-air. Meanwhile, Hey Bhagwan might shift to another channel like Zee TV.
These possible changes highlight the adjustment of channels because audience preference is changing.
Audience Reaction and What’s Next
Fans of Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain have expressed mixed reactions. Although some are disappointed that the show will not come on TV, others are happy that it will keep running on OTT.
It might also help the show connect with a younger audience who prefers streaming over scheduled TV viewing. Meanwhile, longtime viewers will need to adapt to a new way of watching their favorite sitcom.
One thing is sure now: the Indian audience is losing one more original channel. What do you think about this change? Let us know in the comments section below.
