 October 2026 is packed with major South Indian movie releases across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema. Here’s the complete list of films arriving in theatres, including Jailer 2, Ranabaali, Sigma, and more.

October 2026 will be a busy month for South Indian movie lovers, as many major titles will hit theatres this month. Established stars, fresh directorial ventures, action entertainers, fantasy stories, and period dramas are coming this month. 


Jailer 2 will be the biggest attraction this month because it brings Rajinikanth back as Muthuvel Pandian. Although Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna will also lead the period action drama Ranabaal, Fahadh Faasil also steps in as the lead in the Telugu film Don’t Trouble The Trouble.


This month is also important for Jason Sanjay because he makes his directorial debut with Sundeep Kishan-starrer Sigma. Baththa, Bail, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47, Itllu Arjuna, Irandu Vaanam and #Cult are also among the biggest South Indian Movies Releasing in October 2026.

Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai – October 1






Ram has written & directed this Tamil romantic psychological thriller. Nivin Pauly, Anjali, and Soori are also playing important roles in this movie. 


It has already premiered at the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2024. The movie was also selected among the 12 films competing for the VPRO Big Screen Award. 


Its story takes place during a rain-soaked night on a moving train. A 32-year-old man named Raghu meets a mysterious stranger named Muthu who claims to be an 8,000-year-old immortal. Their unusual meeting slowly turns the conversation into an interaction about mortality, survival, and human nature. 


Muthu also revealed his centuries-old love for Aadhira. She is from a royal family who has been reborn across different eras. Romance, mystery, & psychological elements are combined here. 


Baththa – October 1 








Vijay Sethupathi and Lijomol Jose starrer is a Tamil crime drama directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. 


It follows an eight-year-old boy who accidentally locks a feared local criminal named Baththa inside a school restroom in 1986 Madras. It converts an unusual situation into an unexpected friendship. 


The contrast between Baththa's intimidating reputation and his more emotional side is explored here. The film also marks the first collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and director Balaji Tharaneetharan. 


Don’t Trouble The Trouble – October 2 






Fahadh Faasil takes the lead in this fantasy drama under Shashank Yeleti. 


It follows a street-smart con artist named Suri whose life changes when he meets a schoolgirl named Divya. He finds that Divya is secretly a genie. She accidentally causes Suri’s parents to disappear. They then join hands to bring them back. 


Fantasy, comedy, and emotional moments are mixed here as Suri starts developing a strong sense of care & responsibility. It also marks Fahadh Faasil's first Telugu film as a lead. It will also be released in Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil. 


Sigma – October 2 






The action-adventure film stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead role under Jason Sanjay's direction. Faria Abdullah, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, and Raju Sundaram are also playing key roles here. 


Sundeep Kishan here plays an ordinary radio host named Guru who secretly hosts a treasure hunt. He decides to plan a massive heist involving a Rs 500 crore target after facing betrayal and being dismissed as an underachiever. 


Guru therefore joins hands with radio jockey Sam where they put together a team. They eventually come face-to-face with the ruthless Kotlapadi Veeraiya Reddy while pursuing their plan. 


Action, comedy, treasure-hunting elements, and a heist storyline have been combined here. The film is set to release in Tamil and Telugu. 


Bail – October 2






Shiva Rajkumar starrer follows a retired officer named Vijay Kumar hunting an unresolved personal case. He decides to take the matter into his own hands after the system fails to offer his desired result. 


His decision takes him towards the dangerous world of betrayal & revenge. Vijay eventually digs deeper into the criminal world, where escape becomes difficult. 


Sanjana Anand, Dheekshith Shetty, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Sai Kumar, Jayaram, etc. are also playing important characters here in this Kannada movie under Pavan Wadeyar’s direction. 


Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47 – October 9 






Venkatesh Daggubati and Srinidhi Shetty lead this Trivikram Srinivas’s directorial. 


The story revolves around Chittibabu and his apparently perfect family. Their image slowly starts breaking down after an unexpected incident exposes hidden secrets and unresolved family tensions. 


Although action & comedy are combined here, it also focuses on relationships, family conflicts, and the process of rebuilding trust. 


Jailer 2 – October 15







The sequel to Rajinikanth's 2023 blockbuster Jailer is one of the biggest South Indian Movies Releasing in October 2026. 


Superstar Rajinikanth is coming back as Muthuvel Pandian under Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction. Vidya Balan, S J Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Mithun Chakraborty are also playing key roles in this blockbuster. 


Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, and Hrithik Roshan may also appear in special cameos here. It may continue Muthuvel Pandian's story as he faces new threats. Its trailer may be released on October 5.

Ranabaali – October 16





Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna come together again for Rahul Sankrityan's period action drama Ranabaali. 


The film is connected to the Madras Famine of 1876–1878 as it’s set against a 19th-century backdrop. Vijay plays a warrior who notices the community suffering and eventually stands against British colonial forces. Rashmika plays his wife, Jayamma, whose life is also an important part of the story. 



The couple later become a part of a bigger fight against the colonial exploitation.

Irandu Vaanam – October 23





Vishnu Vishal and Mamitha Baiju lead this Tamil cinema drama under Ram Kumar direction. It follows an idealistic young woman and a carefree young man whose different personalities lead them into romance. 


Itllu Arjuna – October 30 






This Telugu romantic action drama stars Anaswara Rajan and Aniesh. 


It follows a speech-impaired young man with exceptional physical strength named Arjun. Although he cannot speak his feelings, he expresses himself through gestures and strength. His neighbour Keerthi understands him in a unique way. 


Their lives change after Keerthi becomes a powerful criminal figure named Peddanna’s target. Arjun then decides to protect her. 


#Cult – October 30 






It is another Telugu release and slasher thriller coming at the month’s end. 


This Vishwak Sen directorial follows a group of men who move to Goa for a nightlife experience. Their plan takes a darker turn after entering the underground party. They then discover that they’ve joined a dangerous survival game. 


A mysterious Game Master forces the group to face difficult challenges. Trust between friends starts breaking down as fear starts rising. 


October 2026 Brings Multiple Genres to Theatres 


Different genres of lineups are coming this month. Large-scale action fans can look forward to Jailer 2 and Ranabaali. But a treasure-hunt and heist angle is available in Sigma. 


A wish-granting story is there in Don’t Trouble The Trouble. Romance, psychological drama, and mystery are available in Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai. Baththa and Bail are perfect for those looking for crime and revenge dramas. 


There are in short several options available for South Indian movie audiences.
