Drishyam 3 review: Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam: The Conclusion. Here’s a look at the story, performances, technical aspects, strengths, and flaws of the final chapter.
Drishyam 3 Review: Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) is back for a final battle with the law after spending more than a decade in secrets, fear, and carefully planned alibis. Drishyam: The Conclusion casts Ajay Devgn as an ordinary man who always seems to stay one step ahead for his family.
Expectations for the final chapter of the most popular thriller are naturally high. Although the first chapter became the fan favourite due to its unusual environment, Drishyam 2 continues the story without losing its focus on its main plot. The last chapter now has a difficult job of giving Vijay and his family a proper ending.
Drishyam 3 introduces many new faces and familiar characters under Abhishek Pathak’s direction & Pathak with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaik’s writing. Keep reading our Drishyam 3 review to learn whether the final chapter meets the hype.
Drishyam 3 review: Overview
The Salgaonkar family has spent years living in the shadow of the old case. Vijay, Nandini, and their daughters have moved on. But the unresolved mystery around Sameer Deshmukh is still affecting them.
The entry of Crime Branch officer Rajveer Tomar (Jaydeep Ahlawat) has changed the dynamic. Tomar is determined to carefully construct the story related to the case.
Prakash Raj is also there as a highly experienced lawyer named Indrajeet Shetty to add more twists.
In short, Drishyam 3 tries to take the story towards its end while retaining its humour, suspense, and thrill.
Drishyam The Conclusion Review: Story
“Can the police outsmart Vijay this time?” is the central question here.
The film keeps several details away from the audience for most of its runtime. Although Vijay's habit of staying ahead remains the central plot, Rajveer Tomar keeps trying to find a gap between events.
The investigation slowly converts itself into a game of old clues, new questions, and courtroom developments. The tension comes less from wondering whether Vijay can create another plan and more from discovering what that plan could mean.
The franchise’s moral ambiguity is one of its interesting aspects here. Although Vijay is protecting his family, the crime at the story's core cannot disappear only because of his personal intention. Drishyam: The Conclusion doesn't spend much time exploring its consequences.
The movie puts more weight on its final act. Some developments here are easier to anticipate compared to others. But the execution keeps the audience engaged throughout its runtime.
Drishyam 3 Review: Performance
Ajay Devgn plays Vijay Salgaonkar again with controlled restraint. He rarely needs dramatic speech & anger to explain Vijay's move. His calm expressions almost become synonymous with his character.
Jaydeep Ahlawat as Rajveer Tomar brings different energy to the overall franchise. His confidence, physical presence, and casual moments made his initial scenes more entertaining. The investigation becomes more interesting due to his chemistry with Devgn.
Prakash Raj also leaves an impression in the final confrontation as Indrajit. Shriya Saran also returns as Vijay's wife, Nandini. Ishita Dutta & Mrunal Jadhav also continue their character as Vijay's daughter.
Tabu & Rajat Kapoor also reprise their roles. Tabu especially impresses as she gets moments where the emotional damage of losing a child comes through without needing heavy dialogue.
Kamlesh Sawant offers some lighter moments to prevent Drishyam 3 from becoming too serious.
Drishyam 3 Review: Technical Aspects
Abhishek Pathak keeps the film familiar to the franchise’ fans while introducing fresh dynamics in the final chapter. The Goa environment indeed remains an important part of the atmosphere, especially during the non- heavy moments.
The screenplay moves between investigation, court proceedings, and family drama. Although it gives the film several tonal shifts, the pacing is not effective throughout its runtime.
The background score tries hard to increase the tension. The music, however, becomes louder than needed in several scenes. Some sequences could have shone for their dialogue without loud music.
Drishyam The Conclusion Review: Plus Points
The makers’ ability to understand the audience’s expectations is Drishyam 3's biggest strength here.
Vijay's calculated behaviour is again entertaining. The screenplay offers enough attention to the final confrontation instead of repeating scenes from the last two movies.
Jaydeep Ahlawat’s entry is also another positive. His character gives Vijay a strong opponent compared to those he dealt with earlier.
The returning cast is yet another benefit. Ajay Devgn’s performance, Tabu’s emotional intensity, and Prakash Raj’s courtroom drama keep the film engaging.
The biggest strength of Drishyam 3 is that the film offers complete closure to the franchise's storyline instead of leaving room for another movie to explain its ending.
Drishyam 3 Review: Minus Points
Pacing is the biggest issue here, as the film spends too much time to reach its payoff. Several scenes could have been tightened to make the storyline engaging.
Forced humour is another minus here. Although some jokes are enough to entertain, a few come unnaturally, especially at times when the film is dealing with intensity.
The film also gives less attention to the female characters. Nandini and Vijay's daughters indeed remain an important part of the storyline. But their independent emotional development is a major missing piece. Meera gets enough material through Tabu’s performance. Her character could have been given more screen time.
The background music also feels louder in specific scenes where the tension is already high.
Some twists are also familiar to the audience who've already followed Vijay's story. The biggest challenge here for the makers is to introduce something new while keeping the primary plot intact.
Drishyam 3 Review: Final Verdict
Drishyam: The Conclusion works perfectly as the final chapter because the film's biggest strength is that it's never a simple police investigation. It continues the battle between Vijay's preparation and the law's attempt to catch up to him.
Although Ajay Devgn remains perfect in the character, Prakash Raj and Jaydeep Ahlawat also offer a fresh energy to the final chapter. Tabu also leaves an impression through her emotional performance.
Flaws are also there in Drishyam 3. Its pacing could have been sharper, and the background music also pushes the tension too hard. Forced humour and limited family scenes are also some disadvantages.
The final chapter indeed offers enough suspense, performances and closure to make the journey feel complete for viewers who've followed Vijay's journey from the beginning. Watch the trailer below:
