Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s fans were recently left worried after reports claimed that the makers were planning to reduce Jethalal’s screen time in the long-running sitcom. The rumours instantly spread across social media, as many viewers questioned whether the iconic character would be taking a step back.
Dilip Joshi, however, has now reacted to the viral reports by firmly denying all such claims. He spoke about the growing issues of fake news and explained why such stories usually gain attention online during an interview with IWM Buzz.
Dilip Joshi Reacts To Viral Reports
Dilip Joshi said that social media has become a platform where many people publish stories only to attract views and engagement. He acknowledged that it has several benefits but it also encourages the spread of misleading content.
He said, “Har chiz ka jaise ki ek faida bhi hai aur be faida bhi, abhi social media har jagah hai to kuch logo ka social media kamane ka jariya bhi ho gaya hai. To abhi eyeballs grab kerne ke liye, views kamane ke liye log kuch bhi utpatang kuch bhi mangadhan kahaniyan aise publish ker deti hai."
It means that Dilip explains that everything has its advantages and disadvantages. As social media has become a source of income for many people, some people publish completely fake stories to attract eyeballs and engagement.
His statement confirmed that the reports regarding his reduced presence in the sitcom are not true.

Actor Calls Out Lack Of Fact-Checking
Dilip Joshi also expressed disappointment over the reputed media houses publishing such reports without proper verification.
He said, "Par dukh ke baat ye lagti hai ki jab renowned jo apne media houses hain, vo log bina jach kiye, bina padtal kiye, production house se bhi, aap puche ki bhai ye fake news hai ya sach hi hai. Bina jane vo bhi bas jaise race me reh gaye."
It means that he said media outlets should first contact the production houses and verify if a report is genuine before publishing it. He also remarked that it usually feels like everyone is competing to publish news first without fact-checking. He even joked that they behave like they would land in ICU if they fail to publish it immediately.
His reaction has sparked discussion among the show’s loyal fans. Many are appreciating his honest take on the spread of misinformation in this digital age.
What Started The Rumours?
Reports stating Jethalal's screen time would be reduced in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah began the rumour. They also claimed that the show would slowly shift its narrative toward the newly introduced Rajasthani family.
Many longtime viewers became concerned as the reports circulated online because Jethalal is one of the central characters since the show’s beginning. His chemistry with Dayaben, Bapuji, Taarak Mehta and the residents of Gokuldham Society has played an important role in the sitcom’s popularity over the years.

Fans Can Breathe Easy
As Dilip Joshi has himself denied the reports, fans can now take the speculation with caution. His response shows that there has been no official decision related to Jethalal’s role in the comedy series.
Neither the show’s makers nor Sony Sab have announced any changes related to Jethalal’s presence in the show. Dilip Joshi’s statement has put the viral rumours to rest.
